Marc Palmer at the Grails eXchange 2007

Marc Palmer - Real World Groovy & Grails developer

Marc Palmer is an independent software consultant, currently contracting to Enotions Ltd. and Southampton University Library. With his work at Enotations Ltd. over the past year on projects which included, PepsiCo, UK soft drink brands Copella, Tropicana, PJ Smoothies and Tropicana Go!, Marc has worked to establish Groovy and Grails as a viable and profitable replacement for PHP scripts and Hava back-ends.
A programmer since he was 11 years old, Marc, has a background in 68000 assembly language, Pascal, C/C++, Delphi, and Java to support his new passion for Groovy - his first foray into dynamic languages. Having developed web application frameworks, the latest of which has hosted both the PJ Smoothies and Tropicana Go! websites for the last twelve months using Groovy and Spring, he decided that enough was enough and conceded that Grails is most definitely the way forward, and that Groovy offers significant productivity gains.
